Get ready for the CV show!

Get ready for the CV show!

The Commercial Vehicle (CV) show takes place 25th-27th April at the NEC in Birmingham. With increased floor space for this year's event, it promises to be bigger than ever. Vansdirect previews what to expect from one of the industry's most exciting events!

Ford

Leader in the LCV market, Ford will again have a large part to play at the CV show. Headlining Ford's stage at the CV show is expected to be the six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission that Ford is adding to 130ps and 170ps derivatives of the Ecoblue engine on the Ford Transit Custom and FWD Ford Transit.

The Ford Transit 130ps and 170ps will also be presented armed with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD). Intelligent AWD monitors environments to establish the volume of grip, cornering balance and responsiveness required when the surface is wet, dry or icy.

Ford will display a Transit Custom Sport Van, available as: an L2 panel van, L1 and L2 Double Cab in Van (DCIV) and as an L1 or L2 Tourneo, all of which are equipped with the 170ps Ecoblue engine. The Ford Transit Custom Colour Edition will also be displayed courtesy of Ford: available in four different colour schemes, all L1H1 featuring the 170ps engine, only 400 of the van will be available in the United Kingdom.

Volkswagen

The new Volkswagen developed Crafter promises to be the highlight of Volkswagen's stand, with a short-wheelbase medium roof panel van and factory built Dropside on display. The old Crafter was based on the Mercedes Sprinter, the newly developed Volkswagen Crafter is sure to present an exciting focal point for Volkswagen.

A new Crafter converted into a mobile service van will also be on display; originally based on the old Crafter when going into service at the end of 2016, these vehicles permit servicing and repairs to occur at a customer's property in conjunction with Volkswagen's extended-hours offering.

Volkswagen will also display the E-Load Up! Small electric van, with 1 cubic metre of loadspace and a payload of 360kg. It is proposed that Volkswagen aims to discover whether the vehicle is practicable and sustainable within the market, with that being the aim of bringing it to the CV show.

Citroen and Peugeot

Both PSA brands, their product portfolios are very similar in make-up, with both releasing electric versions of their L2 small vans in February. The L2 550 LX electric Citroen Berlingo and L2 SE Peugeot Partner join existing L1 electric models. The load length increases 250mm on L2 versions, whereas loadspace volume increases 0.4 cubic metres. The Peugeot Partner L2 electric, will not be on show during the event, but the Citroen Berlingo L2 electric will be.

Peugeot will instead be endorsing the strength of its range, in particular the new Peugeot Expert medium van, one which will be present in police attire. Citroen will also be displaying their correspondent of this van, the Citroen Dispatch.

Having celebrated its seventieth anniversary in the past week, the Citroen Type H van will be honoured by Citroen at the show.

Toyota

Toyota aims to use the CV show to unveil a new converter program, but have been vigilant in ensuring the details of this program have not been released prior to the show opening on the 25th April.

Toyota also aims to use the show to expose the Toyota Proace Verso VIP to the UK market. The seven seater van is expected to be used as an airport shuttle to transport holiday makers' and their luggage to and from UK airports.

Isuzu

Headlined by the new generation D-max pick-up van, Isuzu will also have a part to play at the CV show. The D-max will be the only pick-up on the market that does not need AdBlue in order to meet Euro 6 emission standards. The weight saved on the new engine increases average payload by approximately 50kg and allows for a spare wheel to be included.

Despite Isuzu changing the new engine from 2.5-litre to 1.9-litre, the towing capacity remains at 3.5 tonnes. The new Isuzu D-maz promises to be a positive addition to the show.
