New Mitsubishi L200 2019 facelift - everything we know so far

New Mitsubishi L200 2019 facelift - everything we know so far

The new Mitsubishi L200 has been revealed, with a facelift bringing a new look and new technology to the iconic pick-up! Our team of new van experts at Vansdirect takes a closer look.

New Mitsubishi L200

An updated version of the iconic Mitsubishi L200 pick-up has been revealed, three year's into the lifespan of the current generation model. Revealed in Bangkok where the Mitsubishi L200 pick-up is built, the new van will join the UK market in months to come. The new model represents 40 years of the Mitsubishi L200 and gains an extensive list of updates.

New design

The design of the new L200 uses the brand's latest 'Dynamic Shield' design language, getting a more angular front bumper and slimmer headlights bringing the appearance of the new model more in line with some of Mitsubishi's more recent vehicle launches including the new Mitsubishi Shogun Sport.

Cabin revisions

Mitsubishi vans have also made some design tweaks in the cabin of the new pick-up, it keeps the same dashboard as previously with some new trim aspects and switchgear surrounds. The brand have also revealed that new soft touch materials are used on the console, handbrake and centre armrest.

Unchanged dimensions

The new van is a facelift rather than a complete overhaul, meaning the dimensions of the pick-up remain unchanged from the model it is replacing in the market. The load area of the double cab model remains at 1,470mm square with a 574mm depth.

Big changes under the skin

Under the skin of the pick-up truck will see some significant changes, two four-wheel drive modes are offered: Super Select 4WD and Easy Select 4WD, Mitsubishi vans say this is a simplified version of the selectable 4WD system. The 4WD systems have been changed with a new off-road drive mode with settings for mud, snow, gravel, rock and sand.

Engine details TBC

Mitsubishi vans haven't yet announced the engine details for the revised model, however it's likely that the L200 will remain with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The existing five-speed automatic transmission has been replaced however with a new six-speed automatic transmission. Elsewhere in the new pick-up truck there are new, larger brakes, with Mitsubishi also boasting improved ride comfort as a result of larger, more robust rear dampers.

Enhanced safety equipment

Mitsubishi vans have enhanced the selection of safety equipment and driver assistance packages, the new model is available with new collision mitigation and warning systems, as well as blind spot assist, rear cross traffic alert and a top-down style around view monitor linked to the infotainment display of the Mitsubishi L200.
