A host of new vans will debut at the CV Show 2016

A host of new vans will debut at the CV Show 2016

Next week sees the start of this year's Commercial Vehicle show at the NEC in Birmingham. We take a look at who's scheduled to appear, and what they are likely to be exhibiting at the CV Show 2016...

CV Show 2016: The Manufacturers

Toyota's first CV Show appearance for eight years brings with it two new vehicles. Last month the company announced the launch of their new Proace medium van at the Show. Toyota's product manager, Gareth Williams, claims that the new version is "far more Toyota" whereas the current version is more of a "bolt-on". Also coming along for the ride is a new version of Toyota's Hilux pick-up. Both vans are due to go on sale in the UK at the end of this year.

In a global exclusive, Citroen will debut the new Dispatch medium van at the NEC next week. Also on display is a Euro6-compliant Relay van as well as a host of 'Ready to Run' conversions including a small plant carrier, a car transporter and two new crew vans. Citroen will also be exhibiting its Euro6 Berlingo range which includes new three new BlueHDi engines (75PS, 100PS, 120PS) along with two new Euro6 Berlingo Enterprise vans. As with the current range, these models feature excellent additional equipment.

Another manufacturer debuting a new van at the CV Show is Peugeot, with its new expert medium van. The Expert will be available in three lengths and Peugeot hope sales will improve to match those of the other vans in their range, the Partner and Boxer. A spokesman said "We feel existing Expert drivers will be pleased with the enhancements but that the new model will attract new customers."

Market-leaders Ford bring a new factory-fitted Transit dropside with increased payload to the CV Show 2016. There is only one dropside Transit available in the current market, a retro fit, so this will be a welcome addition to the already-burgeoning Transit range. A version with a towing-axle is due by the end of the year. Also on show will be Ford's new Dagenham-built Euro6 2.0-litre TDCi engine, which is claimed to improve fuel consumption by 12%, cuts emissions by 55% compared to the 2.2-litre unit while service intervals increase from 30,000 to 36,000 miles.

Europe's leading LCV manufacturer has a prominent stand this year - and with good reason. Renault will show ELEVEN vehicles at the event, including a Master with 17m3 of loadspace and their Twizy cargo and Kangoo Z.E electric vehicles. Yet another debut will see a brand new Master Passenger minibus. In keeping with Euro6 developments, Renault will demonstrate a new engine and an Euro6-compliant Kangoo panel van.
