Five vans eligible for the plug-in van grant

Five vans eligible for the plug-in van grant

With the recent announcement that the plug-in van grant will continue in its current form until at least October, Vansdirect selects five new vans eligible for the grant!

Plug-in van grant to continue until at least October

The Department for Transport (DfT) has revealed that the plug-in van grand and plug-in car grant will continue at the current levels until at least October 2018 and some form of grant remaining available until at least 2020. As it stands, the plug-in van grant pays for 20 percent of qualifying vans up to a maximum of £8,000 towards a new green van. To qualify for the full plug-in van grant, a van must have CO2 emissions of less than 76 g/km and can travel a minimum of 10 miles (16km) without any CO2 emissions at all.

Five vans eligible for the plug-in van grant

Here are five new vans eligible for the plug-in grant!

1. Citroen Berlingo electric

Renowned as a small workhorse, the Citroen Berlingo electric van offers excellent levels of practicality and load volumes up to 3.7 cubic metres (long wheelbase models). The Citroen Berlingo electric van achieves a top speed of 70mph in conjunction with a range of 106 miles and can be fully charged from a standard socket in 10 hours.

2. Peugeot Partner electric

See "Citroen Berlingo electric" above, although this is not strictly true, the two small vans are essentially one. The 67ps engine from the Peugeot Partner electric delivers an impressive 200Nm of torque in conjunction with ZERO emissions and again load volumes up to 3.7 cubic metres and payloads up to 636kg.

3. Nissan e-NV200

The Nissan e-NV200 is more capable than ever before, with a brand new 40 KwH battery that has extended the range to a staggering 188 miles. Carrying capacity is also incredibly impressive for a van of its size, with the capability of carrying up to 4.2 cubic metres of cargo. Not forgetting the quick charge capability of the new van, which allows it to be charged to 80 percent in as little as 40 minutes.

4. Renault Kangoo ZE

The Renault Kangoo ZE offers the same generous load volumes as its diesel counterpart but with, you guessed it Zero emissions. In conjunction with the Zero Emissions, the Renault Kangoo ZE also offers impressively low running costs. The Renault Kangoo ZE can accommodate loads up to 4.0 cubic metres and payloads up to 640kg.

5. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Commercial

You'd be forgiven for thinking of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV as a car and whilst you'd be right, there's also a commercial (van) version of this highly popular low emissions hybrid car. The Outlander PHEV Commercial is available in three van driving modes including electric only "EV" driving mode. The Outlander PHEV Commercial boasts fuel economies up to 166mpg with emissions of just 41 g/km.
