New Vehicle Registration Document to be Introduced

The DVLA has introduced a new vehicle registration document called the V5C.

The new document aims to assist in the struggle with car and van crimes and also improve the motor industry’s environmental commitment.

The document will ensure the use of Authorised Treatment Facilities during the scrapping of cars, as the scrap tick box has been removed.

The document will be introduced to new vehicle registered from 15th August this year, and will be introduced to all other vehicle from July next year.

As well as being a different colour to the existing registration document, it will also contain information of where to find advice on buying a used car or van, as part of their joint initiative with DirectGov, “Buyer Beware”.

The document should play an important role in providing added reassurance to second hand car and van buyers as it will ensure that cars or vans have not been stolen or cloned.
