Which Sectors Incur the Highest Number of Penalty Points?

Researchers have delved into the world of penalty points in a bid to see which business sector picks up the most. The statistics released make for interesting, yet some may say predictable, reading.

The figures showed that car, van and truck drivers working in consultancy, utilities and telecoms tend to have the most penalty points on their licences. Those in the financial, public and health sector have the least penalty points on their licences.

Percentage of drivers with no points – representing low risk
1. 93.7%                 Financial/insurance
2. 91.0%                 Public sector
3. 88.6%                 Healthcare
4. 87.6%                 Industrial/engineering
5. 86.3%                 Transportation

Percentage of drivers with five or more points – representing high risk
1. Consultancy 8.33%
2. Utilities 7.20%
3. Telecommunications 6.42%
4. Recruitment 3.23%
5. Construction 3.06%

When you look at the figures released, those with the higher number of penalty points are those that involve a high level of travel and various working locations, whereas those that came top are in jobs that are mainly based in a single working location.

With many companies now requesting speed limiting equipment when ordering cars and vans, companies where travel between working locations is vital should see an improvement in the figures.
