White van stereotype losing its drive?

According to van giant Vauxhall, the prejudice and stigma surrounding the "white van" is slowly fading away.  A new survey carried out on behalf of Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, revealed that 81% said white vans were safe to drive due to the inclusion of features such as airbags, parking sensors and active safety systems.  Of those questioned, 90% also noted satisfaction with other new technologies and creature comforts including electric windows, air conditioning and Sat-Nav.  Whilst 57% of respondents claimed confidence when parking a white van, only 51% were happy to drive a van.

Brand Manager of Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles, Steve Bryant said: “Unfamiliarity with a product can often breed a sense of fear [...] we need to continue to challenge the perception that vans have not been designed for the mainstream motorist and are difficult to drive [...] It’s really pleasing to see that attitudes about vans are changing."

Vauxhall currently manufacture the Movano, Vivaro, Combo, Astravan and Corsavan models.
