Renault Trafic Van Review

cheap vans to buy uk direct from Vansdirect.co.uk

SUMMARY

The Renault Trafic is a firm favourite of both Vansdirect.co.uk staff and the van buying public and is a strong contender in the medium-sized van market.  Based on the same platform as its sister van the Nissan Primastar, the Renault Trafic presents a vast range of options to choose from and will thus suit the needs of even the most demanding van driver.  The Trafic has a comfortable cabin, is easy to drive and comes with impressive kit as standard making worthy of consideration when buying a medium-sized van.

The Driving Experience

With a height-adjustable driver's seat and a height and reach-adjustable steering wheel as standard, the Renault Trafic offers a comfortable driving position with an equally impressive view of the road.  The materials used in the cabin of the Renault Trafic are both attractive and durable making it a pleasant working/driving environment.  Gear changes in the Renault Trafic are made easy with its dashboard mounted gear lever, making it the ideal medium van for both multi-drop urban driving and the longer journey.

You won't be disappointed with the range of engines available either.  The Renault Trafic's dCi diesel engines are not only quick, but also smooth and economical.  The 1.9 dCi (80bhp and 100bhp versions) and the 2.0 (90bhp, 115bhp and 120bhp) are equipped with a standard 5 box gear box but the 2.5 dCi (140bhp) comes with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard.  As such, the Renault Trafic is suited just as well for either motorway cruising or urban driving.  ABS and emergency brake force distribution are standard throughout the Renault Trafic van range.  However, Vansdirect.co.uk would note that the Renault Trafic can be a bit noisy, particularly if running at speed.

Load & Security

With 5.0 cubic metres of cargo space in the standard version, the Renault Trafic offers excellent load carrying for its size.  The high-roof derivative meanwhile, provides up to 8.0 cubic metres of load space. Moreover, the Renault Trafic's low level position makes loading and unloading the Renault Trafic van easier than most of its competitors.  With anti-tamper locks, remote central locking and an immobiliser as standard, the Renault Trafic is also one of the securest vans in its class.

Cost to Run

The Renault Trafic is always competitively priced and with long service intervals (every 18,000 miles / major service every 60,000) and cheap insurance, it is a cheap van in every sense.  Moreover, the dCi engines are reasonably frugal and the depreciation of the Renault Trafic is consistent with other vans of this size and class.
