According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SSMT), new van sales still languish in the shadow of pre-recission figures and a full recovery is years away. The SMMT estimate that new van registrations should hit 187,200 during 2010 - a rise of approximately 2.4% compared to 2009 - but this is still an amazing 45.8% down on the pre-recession new van registrations of over 337,700. So slow is the recovery in new van sales, that the SMMT estimate that new van registrations will only hit approximately 213,300 during 2011.
