This week, following a specific enquiry from one of our loyal customers, we took a closer look at the small “Maxi” vans available from Fiat & Renault.
Fiat Doblo Maxi
These Maxi versions are the extended versions of the of the Doblo & Kangoo. Althought just 35cm & 38cm longer that there standard versions, they do pack a lot extra load space and some extra load weight into these already great vans. Of course, they are available to order from Vansdirect at our usual cheap van prices !!
Engine
The Fiat Doblo Maxi has an impressive choice of engines - 1.3, 1.4, 1.6 & the 2.0 Multijet which produces 99 Horse Power. Where the Kangoo has just the 1.5 Diesel that can produce 105 Horse Power but with an Eco version that produces 85 Horse Power and does up to 53.3 MPG (combined).
Load
The Doblo Maxi can carry almost 1 Cubic metre extra load than it’s standard version - a total of 4.2 cubic metre.
The Kangoo maxi crams in 4.6 cubic metres of load by maximising the space in the back whilst being shorter than the Doblo overall.
However the Doblo Maxi trumps the Kangoo Maxi with 2.17m load length AND a 1 Tonne Payload with the 1.6 & 2.0 engines (compared to 1.86m load length and 800Kg Payload in the Kangoo Maxi). But it is worth noting that the Kangoo Maxi can accommodate lengths of up to 2.8m with the front passenger seat folded flat !
In summary, if you want a small van with car-like handling but also need that little extra flexibility with load volumes then these “Maxi” vans could be for you.
