Ford & Vauxhall Increase Prices

According to the Times, figures published later this week will reveal that British car sales have fallen by approximately 30%.  Sales have been in steady decline with month on month drops of between 20% and 23% being recorded in recent months.

In response, Ford and Vauxhall will increase list prices.

Yesterday Ford, maker of the Mondeo, Focus, Transit and Transit Connect, admitted that prices would rise across the range by an average of 4.7%.  Ford said of its price rise: “Ford will manage its business as efficiently as possible so that price rises are minimised.” It said that “such decisions are only taken as a last resort”.

According to the Times, the price of a new Ford Fiesta will increase by 4.7 per cent, to a minimum of £9,195.  A Ford Mondeo will rise 5.25 per cent to about £16,595, while the Ford Focus Coupe-Cabriolet will rise by 6.28 per cent to a minimum of £18,795.  Ford Ka will have the smallest rises, up 1.6 per cent, to about £7,945.

Vauxhall's price increases are yet unknown but will undoubtedly be offset by some form of incentive to potential buyers.  Vauxhall make the Insignia, Astra and Corsa cars together with the Corsavan, Astravan, Movano and Vivaro vans.
