Citroen Dispatch Van Review

cheap vans to buy uk direct from Vansdirect.co.uk

SUMMARY

The Citroën Dispatch is a fantastic van deal.  The 2007 Citroën Dispatch gives the van buyer the choice of no less than two wheelbases, two roof heights and three different cargo volumes. Perhaps unlike the pre-2007 model, Vansdirect.co.uk can now say that the Citroën Dispatch can compete, and is worthy of consideration against, the other large-medium vans for sale in its class such as the Volkswagen Transporter, Renault Trafic and Mercedes-Benz Vito. Whilst it may look and feel similar to its sister vans, the Peugeot Expert and Fiat Scudo, the Citroën Dispatch sets itself aside by offering Smartnav satellite navigation and vehicle tracking as standard.

The Driving Experience

With the choice of three engines, the Citroën Dispatch offers something for every type of van buyer.  If you need a cheap van for short multi-drop work, the Citroën Dispatch 1.6HDi is worthy of consideration. The Citroën Dispatch 1.6HDi is a 90bhp van offering enough drive and feel for the shorter journey. However, if you're a van buyer who eats motorway miles, then the Citroën Dispatch 2.0HDi is the engine for you with a a choice of either a 120bhp or 136bhp setup. Vansdirect.co.uk would recommend opting for a bulkhead if you're buying a Citroën Dispatch van, as this can reduce road noise and, if you've opted for the inclusion of air conditioning, will improve the efficiency of the system.

Despite its size the Citroën Dispatch is easy to drive, perhaps helped by its car-like interior; in fact most of the controls in the 2007 Citroën Dispatch appear to be the same as those fitted in the Citroën car range. However, if you're a van buyer who needs to carry two passengers in the front, then the Citroën Dispatch might not be the van deal for you; the design of the Citroën Dispatch cabin offers little in the way of passenger space and can at best be described as "tight".

Load & Security

The Citroën Dispatch has a minimum cargo capacity of five cubic metres with the long wheelbase and high roof versions providing six and seven cubic metres respectively.  And with a minimum payload of 1000kg, and the optional extra of upgrading to a 1200kg version, the Citroën Dispatch is a cheap van worthy of consideration.

The Citroën Dispatch van comes with anti-lock brakes and electronic brake force distribution as standard, making the Citroën Dispatch a safe and practical cheap van to opt for. And with a Trafficmaster SmartNav with stolen vehicle tracking as standard, your new Citroën Dispatch van should remain in your possession and remain secure.  The SmartNav in the Citroën Dispatch van has a removable LCD touch-screen, can be programmed by postode, has a London congestion zone alert and the subscription lasts for three years from new; not a bad feature in a cheap van.

Cost to Run

The 2007 Citroën Dispatch has longer service intervals than its predecessor and will depreciate at a slower rate, making the new Citroën Dispatch van a cheap van to buy.  Even with the longer service intervals of 20,000 miles, teh Citroën / Peugeot HDi engines tend to be reliable and mechanically sound.  The Citroën Dispatch also has a low insurance group rating adding to your savings.
